Trust yourselfalone again

When explicit content appears, Brake locks your whole PC for as long as you chose.

You know the cycle

Porn is built to pull you back.

It costs you sleep, focus, and how you feel about yourself. That’s not a flaw in who you are. It’s how the loop works.

Brake puts a pause to that cycle.

No partner. No reports. If explicit content appears, your PC locks for the time you chose.

Set it once and use your computer as usual

  1. Step 1

    Choose your lockout length

Pick how long Brake should lock the screen when it detects explicit content, then turn protection on.

Brake Overview tab showing protection is active, with the lockout length set to 10 minutes
  2. Step 2

    Use your computer normally

Keep browsing, working, gaming, or watching videos while Brake checks what appears on your screen.

A hiking article open in a browser on a Windows desktop, with a Brake badge above the taskbar showing protection is active
  3. Step 3

Brake gives you time to reset

If explicit content appears, Brake locks the screen for the time you chose, giving you a chance to stop and decide what to do next.

What a pause gives back.

Brake won’t do the work for you. It gives you a pause, and a pause gives you a choice.

At ease alone

Late nights stop being a test of willpower. The choice you made earlier holds.

Your evenings back

A lockout breaks the momentum, so one click doesn’t become a lost evening.

Lighter mornings

Fewer mornings that start with regret, and fewer promises to make again.

Nobody sees this but you

There’s no account to create, and screen captures are discarded as soon as they’ve been checked.

Checks stay on your computer

Detection runs on your own PC. Nothing on your screen is sent to a cloud service.

Screenshots aren’t saved

Each screen capture is checked, then discarded right away. Brake never stores images of your screen.

No account required

Install Brake and start. No sign-up, no cloud sync, and no telemetry.

Does Brake send my screen to the cloud?

No. Checks run on your PC, captures are discarded right after, and there’s no account or telemetry. Brake only goes online to activate Pro and to download the illustrated model, once each.

Why does Windows show a warning when I install Brake?

Brake is new and its installer isn’t code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen flags it. Click “More info”, then “Run anyway”. The install guide shows each step.

Can I use it while gaming or in full-screen apps?

Yes. Brake checks what appears on your screen rather than browser rules, so it can check apps and full-screen content.

Can I turn Brake off or uninstall it?

Yes, outside a commitment: use your password to turn it off, or uninstall it like any Windows app. During a commitment, neither works until it ends, unless you use your recovery code.

What if Brake gets a detection wrong?

I’ve used Brake daily for weeks without a wrong lockout, but no detector is perfect. Your recovery code gets you back in, and I’d like to hear about it.

Where should I keep my recovery code?

Somewhere you can’t easily reach from this PC, like on paper, in a photo on your phone, or with someone you trust.

Will Brake shut down my computer?

Only if you turn it on. Shutdown after lockout is a Pro option, and it closes your apps, so save your work.

Is Brake free?

Yes. The core of Brake is free forever, with no account. Every download includes a 7-day Pro trial, and Pro is an optional one-time purchase. See pricing.

What’s in Pro?

Commitments up to 365 days, longer recovery cooldowns, illustrated and anime detection, a custom lockout screen, shutdown after lockout, and priority support. The pricing page has the full list.

Is Pro a subscription?

No. Pro is a one-time payment, it never expires, and one purchase covers up to 3 of your PCs.

How does the Pro trial work?

Every free download includes 7 days of Pro, starting the first time you turn protection on. No card, no account, and it works offline.

Does Pro need internet?

Only once, to activate it with your key. After that it works offline. See how to activate Pro.

Can I get a refund?

Yes, within 14 days of purchase. See refunds.

I lost my Pro key. What now?

Your key is in your Gumroad receipt email. Still stuck? Email hello@usebrake.app.
